On Fan Day, the Queenslander Stage will light up with a line-up of entertainment from footy royalty, national sporting heroes and other famous faces.

Die-hard footy fans and families won’t want to miss the inspiring panel discussions, trivia battles, performances for our mini-maroons and words of wisdom from Former Origin Greats.

Our emcee for the day will be Channel Seven TV presenter Chris Parsons.

Passionate Queensland Women’s Rugby League players from across the state, including Karyn Murphy, Tracey Thompson Chelsea Baker, and Renae Kunst , will assemble for a candid panel discussion hosted by Australian netball captain Laura Geitz. Hot topics will include how the players first got involved in the game and the challenges of juggling competitive sport with family commitments and a social life.

Talk about inspiring role models for our mini-Maroons! Make sure you bring the family (and anyone going through a tough time) for this very special discussion about sporting success in the face of adversity. Hosted by Media Personality Kimberley Busteed, panel guests will include:

  • Paralympic swimming medallist Lakeisha Patterson, who has cerebral palsy, epilepsy and early onset Parkinson’s Disease
  • Australian of the Year finalist 2014 and Paralympic Football Coach Jay Larkins, who became passionate about Paralympic football after his son was diagnosed with cerebral palsy.
  • Paralympic wheelchair rugby player Cameron Carr, who broke his neck in a car accident at age 19 – shortly after signing a contract with the Sydney Roosters.

Excitement will reach fever-pitch as this year’s XXXX Maroons squad docks at South Bank and makes their way through a sea of pumped-up fans. Triple M’s Luke Bradnam will emcee as State Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, Queensland Rugby League CEO Rob Moore and The Star Entertainment Group Managing Director Queensland Geoff Hogg address the crowd to officially open the festival and Origin 2017. Formalities over, Luke will lead a light-hearted Q&A session with the players that’s sure to delight fans.
