Maroons legend and rugby league icon Petero Civoniceva has today been confirmed as an official ambassador for the inaugural Maroon Festival.
Civoniceva played a total of 309 NRL first grade games, 33 Origin games for the XXXX Queensland Maroons and 45 Test matches for Australia.
Civoniceva will take the stage during today’s Maroon Festival launch at Treasury Brisbane, along with the Honorable Annastacia Palaszczuk, Premier of Queensland.
As well as being a proud Maroon and Former Origin Great, Civoniceva has a long history of giving back to the game and the broader community. Since his retirement, he has served as an NRL One Community ambassador, helping improve the lives of many Australians via numerous community programs.
“Nothing makes me happier than seeing young kids enjoying the game of rugby league or just getting involved in an active lifestyle,” Civoniceva said. “Maroon Festival will be another great way to celebrate not only rugby league but everything that we love about Queensland.”
